In the 1970s, during jaw experiments with lasers, it was noticed that the wounds of experimental mice treated with a mild laser beam heal faster, their fur grows faster, and they are more resistant to environmental influences and have better immunity than their counterparts not treated with lasers.

They began to investigate the effect of the soft laser on humans and experienced similarly positive things. The question arose: what causes the positive physiological effect of laser light?

The birth of polarized light therapy

A Hungarian scientist, Márta Fenyő, a Hungarian biophysicist, discovered with his colleagues that among the typical properties of laser light, polarization causes biostimulation , including the rapid healing of acne, ulcers, and wounds.

They discovered the stimulating effect of polarized light on all living biological systems. As a result of polarized light, the self-healing ability of the human body also increases significantly.

This can be explained primarily by the effect of polarized light on the regeneration, stimulation and harmonization of cell functions. Polarized light therapy has also brought results in the treatment of long-lasting, stubborn diseases such as

  • ulcers,
  • pimples,
  • chronic skin diseases,
  • sports injuries.

Low-intensity Linearly Polarized Light emitted in a broad spectrum has recently brought another breakthrough in healing.

Medical technology also began to support polarized light therapy

In most cases, the treatment time for areas with a limited size of the skin surface is 2-30 minutes. In cases where large surfaces need to be treated, the entire area must be scanned with the light beam, which obviously requires a longer time. In 2004, Márta Fenyő invented and patented the technology of a light source made of LEDs, emitting polarized light, which made it possible to create medical equipment with a light-emitting surface of any size and shape. With this technology, it is possible to make medical devices that are suitable for the treatment of both very small surfaces (e.g. 1 cm2) and large surfaces, making it possible to treat even the entire body surface with biostimulating and healing polarized light.

Polarized light

  • significantly increases the activity of immunocompetent cells,
  • stabilizes the cell membrane of red blood cells and stimulates them to bind, retain and transport extra amounts of oxygen.

Treatment with polarized light significantly stimulates the activity of T-lymphocytes, which recognize and defeat the millions of defective cells that are produced minute by minute in the human body, and which later become responsible for serious diseases and malignant changes. This is why polarized light therapy is a treatment

  • facilitates and accelerates recovery from prolonged illnesses.


The electromagnetic spectrum includes a wide range of different wavelengths, from very short ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths to longer, near infrared (IR) wavelengths. The depth of penetration into the skin depends on the given wavelength, so it is different for each wavelength.

Polarized Light Therapy (PLT) uses visible and near-infrared wavelengths during treatment.

Previous research has shown that wounds and chronic ulcers treated with polarized light started to heal. Polarized light stimulates the body’s self-defense mechanisms. It was established that cell protection was significantly strengthened as a result of light therapy.

After the treatment with polarized light, the white blood cells (neutrophil granulocytes) became more active: they engulfed most of the bacteria in the intercellular (between cells) space. During the tests, the microscopic examination of wound exudate samples confirmed that after the polarized light treatment, the number of white blood cells, different from neutrophil granulocytes, representing a higher degree of immune protection – such as lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophil cells – increased significantly in the smear examined with a microscope.

In addition to stimulating cellular defenses, polarized light treatment also stimulated humoral immune defenses. As a result of the light treatment, the amount of immunoglobulins increased. Immunoelectrophoresis of a wound exudate sample taken after just one light treatment confirmed beyond all doubt a significant increase in the absolute amount of eight vital immunoglobulins. Polarized light raised the human body’s defense capacity to a higher level – Márta Fenyő explains her research results.

Thanks to the results of later research, the stimulating effect of polarized light on the immune system has been repeatedly confirmed by laboratory tests both in vitro and in vivo: it has been shown that polarized light stimulates the activity of T-lymphocytes in the blood .


What is polarized light?
How can it be produced?
The light beam emitted from any light source spreads in the form of oscillating (vibrating) light waves in all directions of space. A polarizing filter placed directly in the path of the light beam only lets through those components of the light beam that oscillate (vibrate) in a single preferred direction of space.

The effect of polarized light on the lipid bilayer Polarized light waves propagate in a special plane of space. According to the biophysical model developed by inventor Márta Fenyő and her research team, the electromagnetic field oscillating (vibrating) in this defined plane slightly rearranges the polar heads of the lipid bilayer of the cell membrane. By reaching a higher energy level, the cell membrane becomes more ordered. This minor structural change can result in significant biological effects due to the reinforcing role of the cell membrane, such as

  • energy production of cells,
  • immune processes and enzyme reactions,
  • active and passive transport processes
  • recognition processes (antibodies, hormones),
  • information transfer (neurotransmitter)

In addition, polarized light

  • increases the ability of red blood cells to bind, retain and transport oxygen,
  • stabilizes the membrane of red blood cells, thereby increasing their stability in an oxygen-poor environment,
  • improves blood circulation; therefore, the increased amount of oxygen reaches the cells, organs and organ systems faster.
  • It promotes the body’s ability to protect itself. It stimulates the immune system, promotes regeneration processes throughout the body, thereby
  • it also helps wound healing.

Our practical experience so far shows that polarized light is direct

  • has a beneficial effect on nerve endings,
  • to energy paths,
  • to nerve tissues and thereby
  • relieves or eliminates the sensation of pain.

Based on the knowledge referred to above, the conclusion can be drawn: Polarized Light treatment balances and harmonizes abnormal biological processes.
